Chandigarh, November 5, 2025: The Department of History, Panjab University hosted a thought-provoking book discussion on Virinder Singh Kalra’s seminal book, " Hope for Everyone: The Indian Farmers' Protest 2020-21", published by Speaking Tiger Books, in the Seminar Room, Department of History. 

Virinder Kalra's "Hope for Everyone" documents the historic 2020-2021 Indian farmers' protest, exploring the resilience and solidarity within the encampments. The book highlights diverse voices, the movement's history, and its success in forcing the government to repeal controversial farm laws. 

Prof. Ranjit Singh Ghuman chaired the session. The panelists Prof. Ronki Ram, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chair, Panjab University; Prof. Ranjit Singh Ghuman, Professor of Eminence, Guru Nanak Dev University and Swarajbir, Punjabi poet and play writer and former Editor Punjabi Tribune, highlighted the key aspects of the book and shared their expertise on the theme. 

Earlier, Dr. Jasbir Singh, chairperson, Department of History welcomed the guests. 

The session was attended by 90 participants from various departments including research scholars and students. The discussion was followed by the interactive question-answer session with the experts.
