THIRD WEBINAR ON INFORMATION GENERATION, DISSEMINATION AND USE DURING COVID 19 LOCKDOWN

Chandigarh: 
The Department of Library and Information Science, Panjab University,
Chandigarh organised the third webinar today in a series of webinars
on the theme ‘Information generation, dissemination and use during
covid-19 lockdown’ through cisco webex app.

The third talk today was delivered by Dr. D.P.Tripathi from NIT,
Rourkela on the topic “Open Source Solutions for librarians” wherein
he highlighted various Open Source Softwares available for use in
libraries, how to select them and what precautions are to be taken.

The webinar was presided over by Prof. Shankarji Jha,  DUI. He
congratulated the department for organising the webinars on a relevant
theme and reaching out to library professionals for enriching their
academic knowledge.

Professor Preeti Mahajan, chairperson of the department hosted and
moderated the webinar in which 118 participants consisting of library
professional, LIS faculty, research scholars and students of LIS field
participated from the different parts of the country.

PU APPOINTS NEXT  DUI

Chandigarh: Prof RK Singla, Dean Research has been appointed as the next Dean
University Instruction,Panjab University Chandigarh wef 1stMay,2020 for a period of one year or the date of his superannuation, whichever is earlier.

Also, Prof V R Sinha from University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences is appointed as Dean Research wef 1st May,2020 till further orders.
