Think Gas launches clean, sustainable fuel for Punjab

Ludhiana, December 11, 2019: THINK Gas is pleased to announce that it is currently operating 5 CNG stations in Punjab and has plans in place to double the number by March 2020.

The company is well on track to create the required infrastructure and ecosystem to make CNG a viable option for the owners of autos, taxis, and private cars, as well as light and heavy commercial vehicles. Underlying this effort, THINK Gas organised an event in Ludhiana on Wednesday to formally inaugurate its 5 CNG stations and display a wide range of new CNG vehicles for consumers who stand to benefit from the CNG availability that the company has brought to Punjab.

In late 2018, THINK Gas was awarded licenses to develop city gas distribution networks in the 6 districts of Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Moga, Barnala, Kapurthala and SBS Nagar in Punjab. The development of those networks is underway, with pipelines being laid to supply natural gas to Industrial, Commercial, Domestic and CNG customers. While the full rollout will materialise over the course of a few years, the company will be connecting with customers during2020 and will keep them informed as the pipelines and CNG stations reach their respective localities.

Commenting at the event, Mr.Amitava Sengupta, Chairman of THINK Gas, said, "Natural Gas is the cleanest fossil fuel available and, through the infrastructure that we are establishing, THINK Gas and its customers will be able to play their part in reducing environmental pollution. This will go a long way in improving the health of their families and the fellow citizens of Punjab."

Mr. Hardip Singh Rai, CEO, THINK Gas, added, "Natural gas is a sustainable alternative to other, more polluting fuels such as Petrol, Diesel, LPG, Furnace Oil and Coal. THINK Gas is working with industrialists, OEMs and conversion-kit suppliers to facilitate conversions to natural gas for any consumer who wishes to benefit from the commercial and environmental advantages. Together, we will create an ecosystem that makes natural gas available to everyone in Punjab."

Major OEMs like Bajaj, Piaggio, Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, TATA, Eicher, and others are aligned to strengthen the CNG ecosystem. Together, they have recently added about 2,000 vehicles including autos, cars and commercial vehicles in the region. OEMs are also working towards introducing several new variants and expanding their dealer network to cater to the demand.

THINK Gas is taking natural gas from the existing GAIL India transmission network and plans to lay a City Gas Distribution network in six districts of Punjab to supply Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to households, commercial establishments including hotels and hospitals, education institutes, and industries ranging from food& chemical producers to steel rolling mills.
