The School of Communication Studies, PU organises an AI workshop

Chandigarh, 21 November 2025: The School of Communication Studies, Panjab University, today organised an AI workshop in collaboration with Data LEADS.

ADiRA Trainer, Jatin Gandhi, conducted the workshop under their innovative project ADiRA (AI for Digital Readiness and Advancement). The tagline of the program, “Training India’s Workforce to be AI Ready”, reflected its purpose of preparing and sensitising students about modern technology, especially Artificial Intelligence (AI).

During his presentation, Jatin Gandhi explained in very simple language what AI truly is, how it works and why it is essential to understand it in today’s world. He also emphasised that although AI enhances human efficiency, no machine can replace human decision-making ability, experience or emotional intelligence.

Throughout the session, both the advantages and risks associated with AI were discussed. He shared how various AI tools and applications are simplifying tasks in areas such as designing, editing, research and content creation. However, the fact that AI can just as easily produce incorrect or misleading information was also discussed. Therefore, instead of relying on AI blindly, fact-checking, credibility and verification are extremely important.

The dangers of AI misuse with real-life examples like deepfake videos, misuse of
celebrity faces and the spread of misinformation were also highlighted. Along with this, he conveyed the important message that technology is not just a tool of convenience—responsibility and ethics are equally significant when using it.

The session began with students scanning a QR code for registration.

The primary goal of this workshop was to teach students the correct, safe and practical use of AI so they can apply it effectively in academics, research work, projects and future careers. Toward the end of the session, students enthusiastically asked questions and participated in discussions.  At the conclusion of the event, participants filled out a feedback form, followed by a group photograph.
