Chief guest Tejinderjit Singh Virk, AIG, Punjab Police and Jaswinder Gandhok, Principal Vivek High School, Mohali, lighting the lamp, to inaugurate the 11th Bhagwant Singh Memorial Basketball Tournament.

Chandigarh, November 3, 2025: The 11th edition of the Sardar Bhagwant Singh Memorial Basketball Trophy kicked-off at the Sports Complex-42 here. The tournament which is the biggest inter-school basketball tourney of the tricity, will witness seventy-three (73) teams from 21 schools across 8 age categories vying for honours.  The coveted basketball tourney which will be held from November 3 to 13, 2025,  is being organised by Vivek High School,Mohali.  Tejinderjit Singh Virk, Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Internal Security, Punjab Police –who has represented India in Asian Basketball Championship (South Korea) and Asian Basketball Cup (Malaysia)was the chief guest. Other distinguished persons present were, Mrs Jaswinder Gandhok, Principal,Vivek High School, Mohali; the school's HOD (Sports) Vishal Sharma and the school's Cultural Coordinator Jayata Chopra, among others.
 
Vikramjeet Singh Mamik, Administrator of Vivek High School, in a statement shared important details of the tournament. He said, “The trophy includes U 10, U 12, 14 & 17 categories for both Boys and Girls. The tourney is spreadover 9-days and a prize money of Rs 2,70,000 in the U12, 14 and 17 age categories makes the tournament one of the most rewarding school-level sports events in the region.” 

Jaswinder Gandhok, Principal, Vivek HighSchool, Mohali, said, “The tournament this year has been a pioneering one as it is for the first time that U 10 category has been introduced in any basketball tourney of tricity.”

Vishal Sharma, HOD sports, Vivek High School,Mohali said, “The matches will be played in the league format in the U 10 category and in the knock-out format in the U 12, 14 and 17 categories. The Quarter-finals will be held on Nov 10, Semi-finals on Nov 11 and 12 and the Final on Nov 13.”
