Hosiery and textile workers under the banner of the Textile Hosiery Kaamgar Union on Thursday stage a protest outside the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana.
Ludhiana, January 17, 2014: A large number of hosiery and textile workers under the banner of the Textile Hosiery Kaamgar Union on Thursday staged a protest in support of their demands outside the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana.
They were carrying banners in support of their demands and shouting slogans. Addressing the protestors, the Union’s President, Rajvinder, said, the employers were indulging in exploitation of the workers, which would not be tolerated. He asked the local administration, to intervene and provide them complete justice and all genuine rights for which they were entitled to.
Adding, Rajvinder added, after a long struggle they had been able to get the wages hiked and the ESIC provisions implemented but it was regretted that the employers were again trying to cut their wages on the pretext of recession.
