Tewari distributes about Rs 1 cr MPLAD funds  

Chandigarh, April 19, 2023: Shri Anandpur Sahib MP & Senior National Spokesperson of the Indian National Congress Manish Tewari distributed about Rs one crores from his Local Area Development funds, over the past few days. 

The money was spent on various development projects like street lights, improving school infrastructure at some places and other things. 

Tewari said he has properly worked out the distribution of his MPLAD funds so that all the nine assembly segments get equitable grants.

Earlier, the MPLAD fund had been stopped due to the COVID. Tewari said, the amount of MPLAD funds should be increased so that the MPs are in a better position to make substantial contributions towards various development projects in their respective parliamentary constituencies.

Senior Congress leader maintained that the MPLAD funds do help in helping various development projects in the constituencies and in case the grant is increased it will help a great deal in improving various services for the general public in a much better way.

Moreover, Tewari added, the expenditure and the execution of works under MPLAD funds are most transparent and every penny gets properly utilized for the purpose it is allotted and it duly accounted for.

Tewari demanded that the MPLADS grants for FY -2020-21 & 2021- 2022 as well as the pending grant from FY 2019-2020 should be immediately released in order to ensure that each Lok Sabha MP, most of whom have large geographical and demographic Constituencies are able to do justice to the developmental imperatives of their constituents.
