Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Manish Tewari at a public meeting in Ward 41 at Ludhiana on Sunday.

Ludhiana, September 1, 2013: Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Manish Tewari has asked the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation to furnish the details of the expenditure of grants provided by him for various schemes under the MP’s local area development fund.
Responding to the complaints by the local councillors that the MC was not spending the money on the designated projects like setting up of the tube-wells and was diverting it for other purposes, Tewari sought the details saying if the need be he will get the matter inquired.
The Minister, who represents Ludhiana parliamentary constituency, was addressing a public meeting in Ward 41 after handing over a cheque worth Rs 15 lakhs for the setting up of a tube-well in the area which was a long pending demand of the people here.
Tewari said, he understood the financial problems faced by the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation as it was the first casualty of the financial crisis being faced by Punjab. However, he added, that was no justification for the MC to divert the funds which are granted to it for a specific purpose.
Among others present on the occasion included Surinder Dawar, MLA, Pawan Dewan, DCC President, Rakesh Prashar, Gurmukh Singh Mithu, Pritpal Singh Ghayal, Ashwani Sharma, Rinku Malhotra, Vinod Bharti, Rajiv Sarwate, Dinesh Garg, Vipan Mittal, Sarabjit Sarhali, Desraj Rajasthani, Subhash Gaba, Chander Sehgal, Satpal Bhatia and Kanwardeep Pappi.
