Raja Rithvik of Telangana Upset Russian GM Boris Savchenko in 5th round of Tetrasoft Grand Master Tournament at Marriott.

Hyderabad, August 23, 2019: The Eight Day Tetrasoft Hyderabad Marriott 1st International Grand Master (Above 1700) Chess Tournament – 2019 is getting more and more interesting each passing day.

There were more upsets than were anticipated in the first three days. And the day four is no different.

After fourth round shape and champions changed.

On Third board top seed GM Savchenko Boris of Russia lost against local favourite IM Raja Rithvik R of Telangana – India.

At the end of fifth round IM Triapishko Alexandr of Russia became sole leader of contingent scored five points.

On 1st board, IM Triapishko Alexandr of Russia opened game with King’s pawn at e4. The opponent GM Karthikeyan P. of Tamil Nadu - India replied with g6 the called King Pawn Fianchetto and also called as Robatsch (modern) defence. Game travel between two but 64th black move Rxe3 changed result of game from draw to win to White.

On 2nd board, IM Khusenkhojaev Muhammad of Tajikishtan opened game with Queen’s pawn at d4. The opponent Pranav V of Tamil Nadu - India replied with Nf6 the Nimzo-Indian Defence. Later stage the game took path of Classical Variation. The position remained equal till 73rd move. Both set for draw.

On 3rd board, IM Raja Rithvik R of Telangana - India opened game with Nf3 and the opponent top seed of tournament GM Savchenko Boris of Russia replied with d6. The game followed 2. d4 g6 3. c4 Bg7. This opening is called as Wade defence. 33rd black move Bxd5 gave clear advantage to Raja Rithvik. In 45th move blacks move Be4 is a blunder cost him game. The defeat agreed by GM Savchenko Boris in 60th move.

On 4th board, Sahoo Utkal Ranjan of Odisha - India opened game with Queen’s pawn at d4. The opponent GM Tukhaev Adam of Ukraine replied with Nf6. The opening name Queen’s Pawn Torre Attack and variation is Nimzovich Variation. Utkal Ranjan reached position where he is behind some development and opponent reached first to checkmate him.

On 5th board, FM Aaryan Varshney of Delhi - India opened game with Queen’s pawn at d4. The opponent GM Mosadeghpour Masoud replied with Nf6. Later adopted Grunfeld defence – Modern Main Line. The game continued equally and at last ended in draw at move number 83.
