Telangana Sailors win 4 Golds, a silver and a bronze at Junior Sailing Nationals in Bombay at Marve near Bombay
Lahiri Komaravelly of a resident of Rasoolpura wins a gold in the under 16 Sub juniors alongside Thanuja Kameshwar and Shravan Kathravath, who won the Junior Double Hander Nationals all students of Udbhav School at Rasoolpura.

Hyderabad, May 12 2025: Lahiri Komaravelly of a resident of Rasoolpura wins a gold in the under 16 Sub juniors alongside Thanuja Kameshwar and Shravan Kathravath, who won the Junior Double Hander Nationals all students of Udbhav School at Rasoolpura.
Lahiri sailed an impeccable regatta of 9 races with 4 wins and two second positions with 19 penalty points ahead of the fleet by an unassailable lead of 13 points to be National Champion 2025
Thanuja Kameshwar and Shravan Kathravath won the Junior Double hander with two wins on the last day and National Champions as well.
Bunny Bongur Rizwan Mohammad and Ravi Kumar too of Telangana won gold, silver and bronze for the under 15 boys and all three were on the podium leaving no space of any other state or club. This was a first for Telangana.
Chandralekha Tattari of Udbhav school got her first bronze medal at the Nationals; Five of the 6 podium finishers were from Telangana in the sub juniors under 16 class
Shreya Krishna of Tamilnadu who was the top seed was unfortunately disqualified in two races and dropped to 5th. She is preparing for the Asians and Worlds at Oman and Slovenia respectively.
“Our efforts over the last year with intensive fitness and nutrition and theory lessons paid dividend as 8 of the top 14 were from Telangana and we are on the right track from a training point of view”, said Suheim Sheikh Coach and President of the Yacht Club of Hyderabad where the sailors train.
The federation list of selected sailors for the Langkawi International in June is yet to be released soon and the likelihood of most of the sailors making the mark is very high and Telangana may have at least 7 sailors selected.
The sailors are now off to Shillong for another National ranking regatta after which they will participate in Hyderabad for the prestigious and coveted Monsoon Regatta Trophy at Hussain Sagar.
