Teej Festival Celebrated with Enthusiasm at Guru Hargobind Khalsa Colleges

Ludhiana, September 1, 2025: The festival of Teej, traditionally associated with the monsoon month of Sawan, was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Guru Hargobind Khalsa Colleges (Degree and Pharmacy), Gurusar Sadhar.
Students enjoyed colourful swings and participated in a wide range of traditional competitions, including mehndi, rangoli, hand fans (pakkhi), stools (peeri), ropes (naale/rassa), traditional toys (khiddo, innu, mitti de khidone), parandas, and basket-making. Adding to the festive spirit, the ‘Queen of Teej’ contest, individual and group singing competitions, and a lively giddha performance were organized at the Nihang Shamsher Singh Hall.
The competitions were judged by Prof. Prabhjot Kaur (Retd.), Department of Punjabi, and Prof. Jaswinder Kaur (Retd.), Department of Hindi, both from Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Model Town, Ludhiana.
Chief guests Harina Gill and Hardeep Kaur Gill, along with the principals of both institutions —Inderjit Singh (Guru Hargobind Khalsa College) and Dr. Satvinder Kaur (College of Pharmacy) — felicitated the winners.
As per tradition, complimentary stalls serving kheer and poode were set up by the colleges, while additional food stalls further delighted the students. The stage proceedings were conducted by Dr. Jaspreet Kaur Gulati, programme coordinator.
