Ludhiana, August 17, 2015: PCTE celebrated the The Teej festival of Joy and Celebration gaiety as young students danced to the tunes of traditional Punjabi music at campus.
The girls recited 'Bolian' traditional songs and performed 'Giddha' the folk Punjabi dance to welcome the 'Savan', the Monsoon with which the festival is associated. The girls and boys, wearing traditional dresses showcased their talent and enthusiasm on the beats of the Music. Students actively participated in the dance and song items and rode the 'Peengh' (swing).
Henna Kalra, Assistance Professor at PCTE commented, “The festival reminded everyone one of the happy times in life. It was good to see the students in colorful dresses and enjoy the show.”
"It depicts happiness of the onset of Monsoon in the land of five rivers and it is good to see youth connected to the culture and religious roots. The festival was traditionally celebrated in the college during the month and rued that traditional festivals like these were being forgotten by the younger generation, who spend most of their times on internet and watching movies. "said Dr. KNS Kang, Director General of PCTE.
