Chandigarh, February 18, 2014: Team Modi, a movement ushered in by like-minded apolitical Indians, today ignited a campaign – ‘Jago Yatra 2014’, aimed at motivating voters to exercise their franchise intelligently during the Parliamentary elections 2014 and to vote in Narendra Modi as Prime Minister. The voter contact programme was flagged off in unique style with youth of Team Modi holding torches(Mashals), to personify a revolution – that of electing Narendra Modi as PM. While there has been overwhelming response by Indians to become members of Team Modi since its inception a month ago, the initiative started today plans to cover 1 lakh voters of Chandigarh by contacting them at markets, their places of work and residences. In this direction, it was also announced that a new "Missed call" number 022 45300180 had been introduced -- for registration of new Team Modi members.
Giving details of the plan, a spokesperson said that Chandigarh’s sectors and colonies would be covered in two week’s time.  Today teams fanned out and covered markets of Sectors 27 & 28 and residential areas of various sectors. The markets and residential areas of Sectors 7, 8,9,10 & 11 will be covered tomorrow. Says Gurtej Pannu, Founding Member, Team Modi, “Jago is a popular cultural activity of Punjab, in which people are told to stop sleeping & participate in family events like marriages, by a group of women who perform ‘Gidda’. Our Jago too is a wake-up call to Indians before it gets too late. People living in Northern sectors were generally apathetic towards voting, so Team Modi volunteers endeavoured to explain to them that it was this lackadaisical attitude that had led to the present state of affairs where incompetent people had been thrown up to rule the country and they had let down the Nation. It’s a well meaning non political bid to save the Nation from instability and poor governance, which have been meted out by successive Central Governments.”
It was also announced by Pannu that Team Modi will soon be created at Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur and Una(HP). New posters of the campaign too were introduced at the event. Said Vaibhav Gupta, Founding Member, Team Modi, “It must be understood that Team Modi is not about Narendra Modi or a particular party --it's about you, your children, hope and the country. This is the message the Torch bearers will convey to citizens of Tricity and drive home the point of using one's vote to bring in Narendra Modi to power at the hustings. We contend that Mr. Modi is the only option for PM as he has proved himself by delivering the goods in Gujarat.” The clamour for change sweeping across India has propelled Narendra Modi to the forefront as an exceptional leader. Team Modi feels that Modi has the vision and experience to deliver good governance, an ‘I-can-do attitude’ and a resolve to fix the ills of the nation plagued with multiple problems, including a languishing economy. Mr Pannu sums up, “This is possible only when a clear mandate is given to Narendra Modi so that a hung parliament gets ruled out.” Team Modi will ensure that the voice of every Indian will be heard in New Delhi and that the organization will provide a direct interface between the voter and Narendra Modi himself. Team Modi is a grassroots movement being built by millions of like- minded people to make India a front runner in the World, by bringing change at the National political level.//Chandigarh news online,  Chandigarh news in English, Chandigarh news,  Chandigarh current news,  Chandigarh news live, Chandigarh breaking news, Chandigarh headlines, Chandigarh latest news, world news,
