Teachers’ Fest draws a big response from the teaching fraternity

Ferozepur, September 14, 2022: The unforgiving heat continues to persist even in the mid of September. The teachers participating in the block- level Teachers’ Fest are drenched in sweat and Meenakshi Vohra, a participant in One- Act Play category is no exception. Sweat is persistently dripping down her cheeks but she is so adept in role- playing that she can switch from one character to another without breaking a sweat. She emerged victorious in one- act activity after playing different roles effortlessly in her play 'Rent for Water'.

Teachers’ Fest, a two- day event, being held in 11 educational blocks of the district is a feast of rich talent that the teachers are exhibiting through various teaching methodologies. About 200 teachers showcased their teaching calibre using charts, models, role- plays, digital tools, apps and various innovative methods and techniques. The winners of this block- level fest will get an opportunity to display their teaching talents at the district- level teachers’ fest slated to be held in the next month from October 12 to 14.

Speaking on the occasion, District Education Officer (DEO) Secondary Education, Chamkaur Singh Sran, while praising the efforts of the teachers said, “Usually teachers present themselves through their students. Rarely do they get an opportunity to showcase their talent in public. This teacher fest is an event where teachers can not only present their teaching talent but also come under a platform to hone their teaching skills learning the nuances of teaching techniques displayed by other teachers of their respective blocks”.

Komal Arora, Deputy DEO said that there are many hidden talents that never come to surface and this teachers’ fest is an opportunity to know their talents and each participant has something new to offer for the co- teachers who look forward to take home something new to their teaching repertoire too. We will strive to make the district- level fest to be a real fun and learning extravaganza.

Gurwinder Singh, Coordinator District Mentor, while hailing the team of block mentors to apprise and motivate the teachers to come forward to participate in the event informed that we held regular meetings to make sure that this event must become a real treat of sharing of new ideas, techniques and methodologies. The idea to hold such event is an effort to learn by doing.
