Tata Steel Hosts 'Greenovating Tomorrow' event in Ludhiana on World Environment Day
The event fostered meaningful dialogue on sustainable practices in the steel and construction ecosystem
Ludhiana, June 6, 2026: On the occasion of World Environment Day, Tata Steel hosted 'Greenovating Tomorrow', a knowledge-sharing event that brought together leaders from government, industry, and academia to drive meaningful discussions on sustainable practices across the steel and construction ecosystem.
The event was graced by Sourav Roy, CEO, Tata Steel Foundation, and senior leadership from Tata Steel. The event featured leadership addresses, expert-led panel discussions, and interactive sessions.
The first panel discussion, titled 'The Future of Sustainable Infrastructure in Punjab', explored how industry, policymakers, and other stakeholders can collaborate to support the state's infrastructure ambitions through sustainable practices and materials. The second panel discussion, titled 'Can Green Steel Become the New Standard for Indian Construction?', examined the role of lower-carbon steel in shaping the future of India's built environment, and the opportunities and challenges associated with its wider adoption.
The discussions also highlighted the growing role of Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) technology in enabling lower- carbon steel production while maintaining the quality and performance required for modern infrastructure. Tata Steel recently commissioned its first scrap-based Electric Arc Furnace facility in India in Ludhiana, strengthening the Company's low-carbon steelmaking capabilities and commitment to sustainable manufacturing.
The event saw participation from over 150 architects and engineers from Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, and Haryana. It forms part of Tata Group's Tata Sustainability Month 2026, themed 'Thinking is Good. Doing is Better.'
