Tarun Chugh slams AAP and Congress for ignoring farmers

Chandigarh, July 18, 2025: BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh today came down heavily on the AAP and Congress for their sheer disregard for the concerns of farmers in Punjab. Referring to the all-party meeting called by Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), Chugh said that AAP didn’t even bother to send a representative, while Congress turned up two hours late, exposing how little they value the voices of Punjab’s farmers.

“In sharp contrast,” Chugh said, “the BJP was present from the beginning, and made its stand crystal clear, we are against this draconian, anti-farmer land pooling policy of the AAP government.”

Chugh also hit out at Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, reminding people that this is the same CM who made shocking and defamatory remarks, where he accused farmer unions of acquiring large tracts of land and shares in hospitals and hotels through illegal means. “Instead of engaging with their genuine concerns, Bhagwant Mann has chosen to slander the very farmers who put food on the nation’s table. This reflects the deep-rooted disdain AAP harbours for the farming community,” Chugh added.

“At a time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the historic PM Krishi Dhan-Dhanya Yojana, which will benefit 1.7 crore farmers with an investment of Rs. 24,000 crore annually across 100 districts, the AAP government’s attitude in Punjab is shameful,” Chugh added.

“The Mann government wants to snatch land from farmers under the garb of development, while PM Modi is working to ensure farmers become stakeholders in India’s agricultural growth.”

Chugh said the people of Punjab are watching closely, which “One side is a CM who insults farmers and avoids farmer meetings, and the other is a Prime Minister who launches schemes to secure their future. The choice is clear.”
