Tanzania wins The International Students Football Tournament at PCTE

Players in action during the grand finale match of The International Students Football Tournament on Monday at PCTE Group of Institutes, Ludhiana.

Ludhiana, December 22, 2014: Tanzania won by 5-3 from Uganda in the grand finale match of The International Students Football Tournament today at PCTE Group of Institutes whereas in the tournament Indian team finished on third position defeating team Democratic Republic of Congo earlier. The ten days long football tournament included Student teams of Tanzania, Uganda, South Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Guinea Bissau, Angola, and India participated for the title. Students of their native countries supported teams throughout the tournament.

Haridi of team Tanzania was declared the Player of the Tournament whereas Grace of team DRC was declared Best Goalkeeper of the event. Cedrick, student from DRC and organiser of the tournament was excited on the successful completion of the tournament, according to available information with cityairnews.com. “I would like to organize more such tournaments in near future. It was a display of firsthand excitement of youth involvement from various nationals in football," said Cedrick.

On the occasion, Dr K.N.S. Kang, Director General, PCTE group of institutes congratulated the team Tanzania and gave away the medals along with cash prizes to the wining players. He said that PCTE has 230 odd International students from 28 different countries who are studying in different courses at PCTE. From almost a decade PCTE has been celebrating the existence of different races and diverse culture on campus through such events. Dr. Kang further said that such events promote sense of brotherhood and team spirit among the students. He said that it’s a great opportunity for Indian students to learn and compare themselves with foreign students in the sport.
