Talwandi Sabo Thermal Power Plant to be dedicated to public on November 25

Talwandi Sabo, November 11, 2013: Deputy Chief Minister Punjab Sukhbir Badal said that the Talwandi Sabo thermal power plant would be dedicated to the public on November 25 at a function organised at Talwandi Sabo. The first of its kind hi-tech and non-polluting plant in the state of Punjab and would be the greenest power plant in the country, was envisioned by the SAD-BJP government and was being commissioned by them only.
Stating this here today after visiting the Talwandi Sabo plant and reviewing the progress, Badal said that the 1st unit of 1980 MW of thermal power plant was being developed by Sterlite Energy Limited, a Vedanta group company, at an approximate cost of Rs. 11,000 crore.
Adding further Badal said that the plant would undoubtedly give a boost to the industrial sector in the state as well, and Punjab would be power surplus by the end of December this year. Power would be available to the people at the cheaper rates.
Terming the project as a major milestone in power generation in the state, Badal said that the SAD-BJP government has always believed in delivering and true to its commitment with the people of the state it has fulfilled the promises made with the people of Punjab. Accompanied by Anirudh Tiwari Principal Secretary Power, K.D. Chaudhary Chairman POWERCOM and senior officers, Badal said that the Rajpura thermal power plant would also be dedicated to public on December 8.
