Take strict action, impose EC on violators to stop dumping of cow dung in 'Buddha Dariya' - MP Sant Seechewal 

Taking strict note of cow dung being dumped in 'Buddha Dariya', Rajya Sabha MP Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal directed the officials to take strict action and impose environment compensation (EC), if necessary, on violators to stop dumping of cow dung.

Ludhiana, August 13, 2025: Taking strict note of cow dung being dumped in 'Buddha Dariya', Rajya Sabha MP Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal directed the officials to take strict action and impose environment compensation (EC), if necessary, on violators to stop dumping of cow dung. 
     
MP Sant Seechewal conducted inspection in Haibowal dairy complex, effluent treatment plant (ETP) established to treat dairy waste and Balloke sewer treatment plant (STP) on Wednesday.

MC Additional Commissioner Paramdeep Singh, MC Joint Commissioner-cum-Zonal Commissioner Abhishek Sharma, Executive Engineer Ekjot Singh, MC Health Officer Dr Vipal Malhotra, Executive Engineer (sewerage board) Balraj Singh among other officials of Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB), PEDA among other departments were present during the visit. 

MP Seechewal stated that dumping of cow dung is not only polluting 'Buddha Dariya', but it is also affecting the working of effluent treatment plants (ETP) and sewer treatment plants (STP).

While the civic body officials stated that challans are issued against the dairy owners from time to time, MP Seechewal directed the PPCB officials to impose environment compensation (EC) against the violators, if necessary. 

Later, MP Seechewal also held a meeting with the officials at 225 mld STP Jamalpur and issued necessary directions to stop the flow of cow dung and untreated industrial waste in 'Buddha Dariya'. 
 
Directions were also issued to the PPCB officials to take strict action against dyeing units dumping untreated waste in the MC sewer lines or in Buddha Dariya. 

MP Seechewal said that the state government led by Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Bhagwant Singh Mann is committed to make 'Rangla Punjab'. They appealed to the residents to join hands with the government and administration, so that combined efforts can be made for saving the environment for the coming generations.
