Dharamshala, August 30, 2019: Deputy Commissioner Kangra Rakesh Kumar Prajapati has directed all concerned authorities to deal strictly with a view to curbing illegal mining activities in the district. He said that illegal and unscientific mining causes damage to government revenue and the environment.
The Deputy Commissioner was speaking during a review meeting held with the officials concerned to crack down on illegal mining activities. He asked the officials to take immediate action to close the routes made by the mining mafia to the rivers and their tributaries for illegal mining. He instructed all the officials to work in coordination to stop illegal mining.
District Mining Officer Rajiv Kalia informed that 2917 cases have been reported from April 2018 to July 2019 by various departments taking action in illegal mining cases. Of these, 2617 cases have been compounded. And about 1 crore 78 lakh 27 thousand 650 rupees have been challaned.
Superintendent of Police Vimukt Ranjan, along with all sub-divisional officers, RTO Major Vishal Sharma and officials of various departments and officials of the mining department attended this meeting in Dharamshala on Thursday.
