Ludhiana, April 19, 2024: District Election Officer Sakshi Sawhney, Commissioner of Police Kuldeep Singh Chahal, and MC Commissioner Sandeep Rishi on Friday directed the political parties to ensure taking prior permission of the vehicles being used in road shows. 

Presiding over a meeting with the political parties in Bachat Bhawan, here, the District Election Officer said that the convoys of the vehicles in the road shows must have a gap after 10 vehicles and gap of 100-meter must be maintained to ensure road safety. She said that Flying squad and static surveillance teams would keep vigil on their activities and any kind of the violation will be dealt with iron hand. She also advised political parties to refrain from campaigning in religious places, and if their candidate is found paying obeisance while wearing any party symbols/slogans, it will be considered a violation of the Model Code of Conduct.

Sawhney also asked the political parties to take consent from the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) for any kind of advertisements on social or electronic media, bulk SMS and others. She urged all political parties to cooperate and follow the guidelines laid down by the Election Commission of India for ensuring a free and fair poll.

On the demand of political parties for smooth procedure of availing police clearance, Commissioner of Police, Kuldeep Singh Chahal, assured the parties that ACP Gurpreet Singh would be the nodal officer to deal with election-related permissions from the office of Commissioner of Police. He also assured speedy clearances would be provided to the parties.
