Taiwan–India Summer Field School and Internship Programme Inaugurated at PU
The ten-day Taiwan–India Summer Field School and Internship Programme was inaugurated today at Panjab University’s Department of Geology, alongside the delivery of the M.R. Sahni Memorial Lecture by Dr. Jih-Pai Lin of National Taiwan University (NTU).

Chandigarh, August 12, 2025: The ten-day Taiwan–India Summer Field School and Internship Programme was inaugurated today at Panjab University’s Department of Geology, alongside the delivery of the M.R. Sahni Memorial Lecture by Dr. Jih-Pai Lin of National Taiwan University (NTU).
Organised under the patronage of PU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Renu Vij, the programme is being jointly coordinated by Prof. Rajeev Patnaik from Panjab University and Dr. Lin from NTU. The field school and Internship Programme was formally inaugurated by Prof. Shu-Huei Hung, Chairperson, Department of Geosciences, NTU.
Earlier, Prof. Parampreet Kaur, Chairperson, Department of Geology, welcomed distinguished guests from NTU’s Department of Geosciences and IISER Mohali.
Following the lecture, a joint meeting explored the possibility of signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for faculty and student exchanges between Panjab University and NTU, which holds a global ranking of 63. The discussion, attended by Dean International, Panjab University Prof. Kewal Krishan, Prof. Hung, Prof. Parampreet Kaur, and senior faculty from both institutions, concluded with a decision to initiate formal communication between the respective Dean International offices through nodal coordinators to finalise modalities for the MoU.
