Swimming pool opens in Doaba College

Jalandhar, April 15, 2022: Swimming pool opened amidst fanfare in Doaba College today. Ace Swimmer and Waterpolo player of International repute cum Alumnus Sushil Kohli -Dhyan Chand Awardee graced the occasion as Chief Guest , Rajiv Dhaamija -National Swimmer as Guest of honour .The dignitaries were accorded a hearty welcome by Principal Dr Pardeep Bhandari, Prof Sandeep Chahal , Dr Munish Kumar, Dr Rakesh Nanda , Superintendent -Kapil Sharma, and students .

Principal Dr Pardeep Bhandari said that Doaba College has operational swimming pool since 1941 -oldest in the region.He said that the college swimming pool has produced national and international waterpolo and swimmers of national and international repute like Sushil Kohli, Inderjit Singh, Summit Badhwar, Abhilekh, Vipan , Vinod Kaushal, Suraj Joshi, Rajiv Modi, Rajiv Dhamija etc.Sushil Kohli said that he was able to carve a niche in national and international sports arena in swimming and waterpolo because of his consistent practice in college swimming pool and he motivated the participants to learn swimming timely as it not only maintains fitness of the body but also teaches life saving skills
