“Swasthya Vahini” Bringing Advanced Healthcare to Doorsteps Across Rohtak

Rohtak, December 14, 2025: In a major step towards strengthening preventive healthcare and early disease detection, the District Administration Rohtak has launched “Swasthya Vahini”, a mission-mode universal healthcare initiative aimed at delivering advanced diagnostic and medical services directly to rural and underserved populations.

The initiative focuses on early detection of breast cancer, a condition often diagnosed at late stages in rural areas due to lack of awareness, high diagnostic costs, and limited access to specialised facilities. Through mobile mammography vans and structured health camps, Swasthya Vahini is ensuring that life-saving screening reaches women at their doorstep, free of cost.

Mission and Key Features
• 100% mammography screening for women aged 35 years and above
• Camp-mode saturation approach, covering every village and urban ward for 1–3 days
• A structured 6-Step Cancer Shield Protocol ensuring end-to-end care—from physical screening to referral and continuous handholding till treatment
• Integration of anaemia control, oral health screening, NCD management, and digital health services including ABHA ID generation

Impressive Pilot Outcomes

During the pilot phase conducted in Sampla Block and during Geeta Jayanti celebrations (Nov–Dec 2025):
• 8,086 citizens availed healthcare services
• 1,082 women were screened for breast cancer
• 469 high-tech mammography scans conducted in rural settings
• 106 severe anaemia cases identified and provided immediate intervention
• Record footfall of 300+ patients in a single day, reflecting high community trust

The initiative also enabled identification of health hotspots, allowing the administration to plan targeted nutritional and public health interventions.

Swasthya Vahini is powered by a robust public-private-CSR partnership, where:
• CSR partners fund mobile diagnostic infrastructure
• Private diagnostic centres provide technical expertise
• Government health staff ensure on-ground delivery and follow-up
• District Administration leads planning, coordination and monitoring

Following the success of the pilot, the District Administration plans to expand Swasthya Vahini across all blocks of Rohtak, including Kalanaur, Lakhan Majra and Meham. The initiative will be institutionalised as a permanent annual health programme, creating a reliable and sustainable preventive healthcare safety net.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta said,“Swasthya Vahini is not just a health camp, but a movement for health equity. By bringing advanced healthcare to the village itself, we are ensuring early detection, dignity, and timely treatment—so that no woman in Rohtak fights cancer alone.”
