Swarnim Vijay Varsh Celebrations 

Jalandhar, Aug 14: The Governor of Punjab, V P Singh Badnore, visited Vajra Corps at Jalandhar Cantt and felicitated Veterans and Veer Naaris on 14" Aug 2021 in a glittering ceremony held by the Army's Vajra Corps commonly known as "Defenders of Punjab". The occasion was to commemorate the brave veterans as part of the Swarnim Vijay Varsh anniversary of the 1971 victory on Pakistan.
 
The Governor was received and conducted by Lt Gen C Bansi Ponnappa, GỌC Vajra Corps. He paid homage to the brave and valiant soldiers of the Indian Army and laid a wreath at Vajra Shaurya Sthal. This was followed by a visit to the Vajra Museum.
 
Thereafter, at a Felicitation Ceremony organised as a tribute to the veteran bravehearts and martyrs, the Governor felicitated a total of 20 Veterans and Veer Naaris. The Governor remembered the proud sons of Mother India who made the supreme sacrifice during 1971 Indo-Pak war. He expressed his deep faith in the professionalism and ethos of the Indian Army and praised the Army's invaluable contribution to Nation Building. The ceremony was attended by senior military officials, 1971 War Veterans, Veer Naaris, serving soldiers and civil dignitaries, while ensuring all COVID 19 precautions.
 
Extending support to the Green Earth movement, the Honourable Governor planted a sapling and encouraged everyone to do the same to reverse the climate change.
