Kapurthala, October 2, 2026: Rail Coach Factory (RCF), Kapurthala is observing ‘Swachhta Hi Seva Abhiyan-2026’ from September 17. The campaign aims to enhance awareness about cleanliness and encourage public participation towards maintaining a clean and healthy workplace, residential premises and surrounding environment.
The campaign was inaugurated on September 17 by Ajay Nandan, General Manager, RCF, by administering the Swachhta pledge to officers and employees. He called upon everyone to make cleanliness a part of daily life and to actively contribute towards keeping the RCF premises clean and beautiful.
As part of ‘Swachhta Hi Seva Abhiyan-2026’, various cleanliness and awareness activities are being organized at RCF. In this series, a Swachhta Rally was organized today, in which officers, employees and members of Bharat Scouts & Guides participated actively. The rally conveyed the message of cleanliness, a clean environment and making cleanliness an integral part of daily life.
Following the Swachhta Rally, a Tree Plantation Drive was organized. General Manager Shri Ajay Nandan, along with officers, employees and Bharat Scouts & Guides, planted saplings and reiterated RCF’s commitment towards a clean and green environment. The plantation drive conveyed the message of environmental conservation, increasing green cover and creating a healthy environment.
Under the campaign, an awareness drive is being conducted door-to-door in the RCF Colony in accordance with the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026, sensitizing residents about segregation of waste into four different categories, preparation of compost from household waste and reduction in the use of single-use plastic.
Awareness and demonstration sessions are also being organized for children of Punjab Government schools and Kendriya Vidyalaya located in the RCF Colony. Through these sessions, children are being sensitized about proper segregation of wet, dry, domestic hazardous and other waste, appropriate disposal of waste, and the importance of cleanliness and environmental conservation. Various activities such as cleanliness awareness programmes, art competitions and street plays are also being organized in schools.
During the campaign, targeted areas in workshops, offices and the colony are being identified for intensive cleaning. Special attention is being given to removal of waste and unwanted material, as well as cleaning of drains and toilets. Activities such as promoting the use of cloth and jute bags, plastic bottle crushing machines and Swachhta selfie points are also being encouraged.
RCF is also promoting clear desks, minimal printing, digital documentation, reusable bottles and cups, and proper maintenance of solar-powered equipment as part of its efforts towards sustainable and environmentally responsible practices.
Through this campaign, RCF Kapurthala is making efforts to ensure that cleanliness does not remain limited to a campaign but becomes a part of daily behaviour, environmental responsibility and collective responsibility. Active participation of officers, employees, their families and the local community is being encouraged as an important element in building a clean and green RCF campus.
