Chandigarh, October 14, 2025: Swachhta Diwas was organised today by the Department of Library and Information Science at Panjab University as part of the ongoing cleanliness and awareness campaign. The event saw enthusiastic participation from faculty members, office staff, research scholars, M.Lib.I.Sc. students and B.Lib.I.Sc. students.
Participants actively engaged in cleaning the departmental premises, surrounding areas and nearby pathways. Dustbins were cleaned and properly arranged, waste materials were segregated, and awareness about maintaining a clean and green environment was promoted among all.
The programme began with a brief address by Prof Rupak Chakravarty, Chairperson, who emphasised the importance of cleanliness in line with the vision of “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.” The collective efforts of all participants made the event both successful and motivating. The Department intends to continue such cleanliness drives periodically to foster a healthy and pleasant environment.
