New Delhi, October 22, 2015: Mr Paramjit Singh Sarna, President Shiromani Akali Dal Delhi in a press statement here today said that suspension of Panj Piyare under Badal directions is an attack on basic tenets of Sikhism and religious institutions. He further said that Badal and his family are bent upon to destroy the basic tenets of Sikhism and religious institutions like Sri Akal Takhat Sahib. He said that every Sikh accept Badal know the importance of the concept of Panj Piyare and dictate issued by them.
Mr. Sarna said that history is evident that during the battle of Chamkaur, the last five surviving Sikhs constituted themselves into the council of Panj Pyare and commanded Guru Gobind Singh to leave the fortress and save himself to reassemble the Sikhs and the Guru bowed before their dictate. He said that in the yesterdays incident, these Panj Pyares are not of any ordinary Gurdwara, but belonged to the Sri Akal Takht Sahib, the highest temporal seat of the Sikhs have not violated Sikh tenets and traditions by summoning these “Badal branded jathedars”, who are culprit of extending unconditional pardon to Dera Sirsa Chief.
Mr. Sarna said that these Panj Piyare are vested with the power to award religious punishment to the guilty after seeking explanation for religious offences. They had justifiably summoned the jathedars of Takhts in the light of the shattered sentiments of the Sikhs across the world by expending unconditional pardon to Dera Sirsa Chief by them.
Mr. Sarna said that it is shocking for the entire Sikh Diaspora that S. Avtar Singh Makkar took action against these Panj Piyare for violation of service rules of SGPC, but in the case of Jathedar Sri Akal Takhat Sahib forget service rules, who is also an employee of SGPC and main culprit of granting pardon to Dera Sirsa Chief. He said that these Panj Piyare have expressed the feelings of the Sikh Panth and have not favoured Badal and his family, which did not, suits to them.
He said that presently Jathedar of Akal Takhat Sahib do not represent the feelings of the Sikhs and do not act to protect Sikh traditions and tenets, but as a personal slave to Badal family and issue dictates as desired by Badal and withdraw dictates on his directions only.
