Surprise checking of wheat distribution under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana 

Talwandi Bhai (Ferozepur), June 28, 2022: Punjab State Food Commission Member Vijay Dutt on Tuesday did surprise checking of wheat distribution under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana here. He inspected the depots at Talwandi Bhai Haraj village and asked the depot holders about the wheat’s quality, weight, and non-recovered amount.

He said that Punjab State Food Commission was tasked with ensuring the implementation of the National Food Security Act at the grassroots level and giving the Act’s beneficiaries access to foodgrains.

Dutt also directed the staff of the department concerned to ensure that the foodgrains were being distributed as instructed by the government, and that the quality and quantity of the wheat was being maintained without negligence. Gaps in implementation will not be tolerated, he said, adding that a quota of 5-kilogram wheat was fixed for each beneficiary, and they were getting 30 kg each as 6 months of stock.

Dutt also held a meeting with District Food Supplies Controller (DFSC) Vandana Kamboj, AFSO & inspectors and directed them to take care of social distancing in view of Covid-19 epidemic besides ensuring availability of drinking water.
 Dutt also talked to the beneficiaries who came to collect food grains and took information from them.
