SUPVA’s Three-Day Design Festival ‘Sutram’ to Begin from 12 August; Aloknama, Fashion Show, master classes on Phulkari, Madhubani painting, terracotta art, and handloom weaving to be the highlight
Preparations have been completed for the three-day design festival ‘Sutram’, which will begin on August 12 at Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA), Rohtak. The festival will conclude on August 14 with a grand fashion show featuring outfits designed and created by university students. A wide range of programmes centred on art, culture, craft and design will be organised during the three-day festival.

Rohtak, August 11, 2026: Preparations have been completed for the three-day design festival ‘Sutram’, which will begin on August 12 at Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA), Rohtak. The festival will conclude on August 14 with a grand fashion show featuring outfits designed and created by university students. A wide range of programmes centred on art, culture, craft and design will be organised during the three-day festival.
Dr. Shaily Khanna, FC, Faculty of Design, said that ‘Sutram’ is being organised by the Faculty of Design under the guidance of Vice Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya. The preparations have been finalised with the support of Registrar Dr. Gunjan Malik Manocha, faculty members, non-teaching staff and students of the university.
She said that the opening evening on August 12 will feature Aloknama, a special presentation by renowned poet and lyricist Alok Shrivastava. On the second day, SUPVA students will present a cultural programme, while the concluding day will feature a fashion show showcasing garments conceptualised and prepared by students.
For ‘Sutram’, students have specially decorated the Faculty of Design, Central Auditorium and Ramp Auditorium, creating an engaging ambience for the festival.
Six master classes will also be organised during the festival, focusing on traditional Indian art and craft forms, including Punjab’s Phulkari, Bihar’s Madhubani painting, Delhi’s terracotta art and fabric jewellery, Rajasthan’s hand-block printing, and Haryana’s handloom weaving. Students from schools across the city have also been invited to participate in these workshops. The live craft workshops will provide participants an opportunity to interact directly with experts and learn traditional techniques.
Food stalls run by SUPVA students will also be set up during the festival. In addition, a dedicated startup zone will showcase a variety of products, providing students an opportunity to display their creativity and entrepreneurial initiatives.
