SUPVA will promote Startups by establishing an Independent Company; will raise funds for startups of students and research scholars
Rohtak, March 23, 2026: Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLCSUPVA) will establish an independent company to promote startups. Its formation will be under Section-8 of the Companies Act. This company will be responsible for raising funds for the startups of the university's students and research scholars. This decision was agreed upon in the meeting of the Executive Council (EC).
Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya said that the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) is running several programs with the aim of supporting entrepreneurs, building a strong startup ecosystem, and transforming India from a country that looks for jobs to a country that creates jobs. In this context, it has been decided to establish startups to make SUPVA students self-reliant. These startups will be based on the ideas of students and researchers, while the responsibility of giving them a tangible form will rest with the university. VC Dr. Arya said that for this purpose, an independent company is being registered. Two senior faculty members will be appointed as its directors. This company will operate on a non-profit model. Its main role will be to raise funds from the state and central government for the startup. In addition to acting as mentors for the startups, it will also provide them with a complete industrial kit so that they do not face any difficulties in the market.
VC Dr. Arya said that DLC SUPVA is a university for performing and visual arts, so there is a strong need to bring the designs, artworks, models, etc., from here to the market and make them a source of income for students. After funding, the responsibility of guiding the startup at every step will lie with the company to be created by SUPVA. This company will also practically provide the startup with access to the market. He explained that initially its term will be set for 10 years, which can be extended after review. The independent company will handle everything from getting the startup recognized by DPIIT to making it tax-exempt. Under this, an incubator and innovation lab will be established. The same company will arrange for MARG mentorship connect, programs, competitions, and grants to help grow the startup.
