SUPVA VC announces ₹15,000 Reward for ‘Sankalp’ Street Play Team; will perform across State Villages

Rohtak, October 10, 2025: Vice-Chancellor of Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA), Dr. Amit Arya today announced a cash prize of ₹15,000 for the  Nukkad Natak team that staged the impactful street play ‘Sankalp’, focused on drug de-addiction and social awareness.

The play, directed by Director Youth Affairs Dushyant, was earlier performed at the Old ITI Grounds, Rohtak, during the staging of Ramleela on the occasion of Dussehra. It drew widespread appreciation from the public for its powerful message against substance abuse and its energetic performance by 15 students of the Film & TV Department.

Meeting the students today, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya commended them for using theatre as a medium of social reform. “This performance is more than an act - it’s a movement. The message of Sankalp reflects the triumph of willpower and awareness over the social evils like drugs and intoxication that weaken our youth. With this motivation, our Sankalp team will now take the message of de-addiction to selected villages across Haryana, ensuring it reaches audiences who need it the most,” he said.

Registrar Dr. Gunjan Malik Manocha congratulated the team for its continued commitment and community outreach. “SUPVA stands for creativity with conscience. Sankalp exemplifies how performing arts can ignite real conversations within society. The recognition from our Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor will further motivate our students to carry this mission forward,” she said.

Play Director Dushyant expressed gratitude for the encouragement and support and added, “Theatre becomes truly meaningful when it steps out of campus walls and engages directly with people.”

The initiative is being coordinated by Dr. Prakash Khande, NSS Program Officer under the Department of Students’ Welfare. The upcoming village performances will form part of SUPVA’s larger community engagement drive aligned with the Nasha Mukti Abhiyan, using art and youth participation to spread awareness on healthy living and social responsibility.
