Rohtak, October 16, 2026: A contemporary take on Shakespeare’s Hamlet, exploring the tangled themes of truth, revenge and power, opened to an audience at Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (SUPVA) on Friday.
The three-day production, staged by third-year acting students of the Faculty of Film and Television, reimagines what might have happened if Hamlet had lived—and if people had questioned their assumptions and listened to voices often ignored.
Vice-Chancellor Dr Amit Arya and Registrar Dr Gunjan Malik Manocha inaugurated the production at the university’s mini auditorium. Directed by the renowned Sri Lankan theatre practitioner Dr Chamika Hathlahawatta, the play features production design by NSD-trained Praveen Adamangala.
The production combines elaborate stage design, costumes, music, choreography and lighting to create an immersive theatrical experience. The students’ performances drew appreciation from theatre and art enthusiasts.
The Entry is free. Four more shows are scheduled for October 17 and 18, at 2.30 pm and 6 pm each day.
