SUPVA Student and Actor Toshab to Master English Theatre Techniques in Italy; Only 12 individuals selected from across the globe

Rohtak, May 31, 2026: Toshab, an alumnus of the Department of Acting at the Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA), Rohtak—and a Bollywood actor—is now set to learn the nuances of English theatre in Italy.

Toshab has been selected for the world-renowned Biennale College Teatro 2026, located in Venice. A native of Bawal (Rewari), Toshab has already left a distinct mark with his acting performances in numerous Bollywood films and web series.

Registrar Dr. Gunjan Malik Manocha stated that Toshab Bagri—a student of the SUPVA's 2015 batch Acting Graduate program—enrolled in the Kyoto Filmmakers Lab in Japan after completing his degree in acting here, where he mastered advanced techniques in acting and filmmaking. Since then, Toshab has been actively involved in the film industry as an actor. In addition to the Hindi film ‘Vedaa’ (starring John Abraham), he has showcased his acting prowess in projects such as ‘Undekhi’ (on SonyLIV), ‘Adhura’ (on Amazon Prime), and ‘Tota’, ‘Mewat’, and ‘Anda Gang’ (on the Stage App). The Registrar further noted that Toshab is one of only 12 actors selected globally to receive theatre training from Hollywood legends at the Biennale College Teatro.

Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya informed that this training program has been designed by the renowned Oscar-nominated actor Willem Dafoe, who also serves as the Artistic Director of the Theatre Department at the Biennale College. For four weeks, the selected actors—including Toshab—will be mentored and trained in theatre arts by world-famous Hollywood figures: Willem Dafoe, Evangelia and Mary Rantou, Hollywood actor Simon McBurney, and filmmaker Silvia Costa.

Vice-Chancellor Dr. Arya stated that, alongside the activities guided by mentors, these actors will also engage in independent, individual, and collective study in their pursuit of becoming world-renowned. Furthermore, from June 7 to June 21, all 12 participants—including Toshab—will showcase their talent at the 54th International Theatre Festival. He remarked that this achievement is a matter of immense pride for the entire SUPVA family.
