SUPVA Alumnus and Haryanvi Singer Masoom Sharma Hands Over ₹5 Lakh Cheque to Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya; Needy Students to Receive Educational Assistance

Rohtak, May 20, 2026: Masoom Sharma—an alumnus of the Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA), Rohtak, and a Haryanvi singer—presented a cheque of ₹5 lakh to Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya with the objective of providing educational assistance to needy students. This amount will aid students who are unable to continue their education due to financial constraints in pursuing their further studies. Registrar Dr. Gunjan Malik Manocha, Faculty Coordinator (FC) of Film and Television Mahesh T.P., and Dean of Student Welfare Vinay Kumar were also present on this occasion.
Registrar Dr. Gunjan Malik Manocha said that after obtaining a bachelor's degree in Acting from SUPVA, Masoom Sharma went on to complete a postgraduate degree in Mass Communication. He has also ventured into the fields of acting and film production through the film ‘License’ and continues to harbor a deep sense of attachment toward his alma mater, SUPVA.
Masoom Sharma remarked that there are certain students, whose families face poor financial conditions, rendering them unable to pay their tuition fees. Consequently, he presented a cheque of ₹5 lakh to the university administration so that these funds could be utilized specifically for covering the tuition fees of needy students. He emphasized that we bear a certain responsibility toward the institution from which we have received our education; this responsibility becomes even greater once we have achieved a significant milestone in our careers.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya said that the affection and sense of belonging demonstrated by Masoom Sharma toward the varsity, in his capacity as an alumnus, are highly commendable. The Vice-Chancellor noted that alumni constitute the very soul of any educational institution. He further urged other SUPVA alumni to come forward and contribute in a similar manner. SUPVA has already registered its Alumni Association, and an Alumni Meet is scheduled to be organized in the near future.
