Chandigarh, July 18, 2025: The six-week Summer Internship Program 2025 concluded at Department of Microbiology, Panjab University.
The six weeks summer training program featured various specialised modules covering diverse areas of microbiology. More than 100 students from various reputed institutions across India participated in the internship program. The valedictory function, held today, marked the successful culmination of the program.
Prof. Rajat Sandhir, Principal Investigator & Director of PI-RAHI S&T Cluster, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, highlighted the significance of microbiology-driven innovations and the growing need for entrepreneurship/start-ups in the microbiology sector. He lauded the department’s efforts in providing students with exposure to advanced laboratory practices and industry-oriented skills.
Mr. Rakesh Vij, Guest of Honour, Head of Microwin and a renowned microbiology-based industrialist, praised the inclusion of modules such as Industrial Microbiology and Fermentation Microbiology, noting their relevance in preparing students for careers in the industrial sector.
Er. Rakesh Kumar, Guest of Honour, Engineer, DST UT Chandigarh, appreciated the department’s contribution to equipping students with practical and technical microbiological skills necessary to address real-world challenges, even pointing out certain issues in UT Chandigarh that could benefit from microbiological interventions.
The event concluded with Prof. Naveen Gupta, Chairperson, Department of Microbiology, encouraging the students to pursue excellence in their future endeavours and extending his best wishes.
