Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal Bhukhri Kalan Quits LJP (Ram Vilas), Alleges BJP Pressure Over 20-Day Delay in Appointment Letter

Ludhiana, October 13, 2026: Advocate and national political leader Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal Bhukhri Kalan has resigned from the primary membership of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) with immediate effect. He stated that the decision was taken in accordance with his conscience, self-respect and principles.
In a statement on the social media platform X, Grewal said that he had formally submitted his resignation from the primary membership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on August 2, 2026, but, according to him, it had not been accepted to date. He stated that grassroots workers and experienced leaders were being sidelined within the party, while its ideological discipline was weakening. He emphasised that despite serving the BJP selflessly for 34 years, he was unwilling to compromise on his principles or self-respect.
Grewal stated that he formally joined the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) at its central office in New Delhi on September 23, 2026. He was assured responsibilities as National Vice-President and Co-in-charge of Punjab. However, even after 20 days, his appointment letter had not been issued.
Grewal alleged that pressure from the BJP leadership was responsible for preventing the issuance of his appointment letter. He said that the BJP’s continued refusal to accept his resignation, coupled with the obstruction of his appointment in the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), raised serious concerns about political pressure and interference.
Expressing his strong displeasure, Grewal said, “Is this the reward for 34 years of selfless service to the BJP? I have worked honestly throughout my political career and maintained an unblemished record. If I chose to leave the party of my own free will and pursue a new political path, why should the BJP leadership object? Who has given them the right to obstruct my appointment in another party? Every political leader must have the freedom to make independent decisions according to their conscience and self-respect.”
Grewal further stated that pressure had also been exerted on Shri Chirag Paswan, National President of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) and Union Minister for Food Processing Industries, in connection with the matter. He described the situation as deeply unfortunate, saying that no political leader should be pressured into restricting another individual’s freedom to pursue a political path of their choice. He added that the entire episode had raised serious questions about the BJP leadership’s intentions and commitment towards the people of Punjab.
Grewal clarified that his resignation was not motivated by personal bitterness or hostility. He said he did not want his decision to adversely affect the cordial relationship between the BJP and the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
He expressed his heartfelt gratitude, affection and respect for Shri Chirag Paswan, emphasising that his personal regard for him would always remain unchanged. He also thanked Dr. K.P. Chaudhary, Shri Pankaj Bhardwaj, Shri Prem Singh Safri and all other party leaders and workers for their support, encouragement and goodwill.
Reaffirming his determination, Grewal said, “I am a person of strong resolve and unwavering conviction. God may delay justice, but He never denies it. I will carve out my own path. I will neither bow to political pressure nor retreat out of fear of anyone’s tactics. For me, self-respect, conscience and principles are far more important than any political position.”
Grewal reiterated his commitment to serving Punjab, farmers, youth, the poor and the underprivileged sections of society. He affirmed that he would continue to raise the voice of the people with honesty, courage and dignity, without succumbing to fear, pressure or political compromise.
He emphasised that his resignation did not mark the end of his political journey but represented his determination to move forward with his principles and self-respect intact. He reaffirmed that public service remained his primary objective and that his voice for the rights and welfare of the people of Punjab would continue to remain strong and unwavering.
