Dharamshala, August 13, 2018: Many NHs , State Highways and other roads closed for traffic due to landslides in Himachal as Monsoon is vigorous over the state during last few days. Rainfall occurred at most all the places over the state during past 24 hours. Extremely heavy rainfall occurred at isolated places in the district of Solan, Mandi, Sirmaur, Kangra & Hamirpur. Heavy to very heavy rainfall occurred at few places in the districts of Shimla, Kullu, Una, Bilaspur and Chamba. Administration of the 8 districts ordered closing of the school for yet another day today. The schools were closed for past 5 days too , in few districts for the safety of children during this vigorous monsoon. According to Meteorological Department, Sujanpur Tira(Hamirpur) and Arki (Solan)received 307 and 300 MM rain respectively ,last night .Rain fall recorded in the past 24 hours in other stations is Gohar-260 mm followed by Paonta Sahib-239, Baijnath-235, Palampur-212, Bhoranj-209, Dehra Gopipur-194, Naina evi-190, Kahu-183, Ghamroor-178, Shimla-173, Gaggal-168, Sarkaghat-158, Sundernagar-151, JubbarHatti-146, Dharamshala-143, Nagrota Suriyan-135, Solan-129, Amb-126, Kufri-125, Aghar-124, Bharari & Banjar-120 each, Mashobra-119, Kasauli-117, Kandaghat-116, Karsog & Pandoh-115 each, Dharampur-110, Berthin & Guler-103 each, Jhandutta-100, Renuka & Kheri-98 each, Pachhad-93, Hamirpur-84, Saloni-82, Sunni Bhaji & Bharwain-80 each, Chamba & Kumarsen-78 each, Mehre-77, Bangana-75, Dalhousie-72, Bijahi & Ghumarwin-70 each, Sangrah-68, Rampur-66, Rajgarh-62, Manali-59, Janjehli-55, and Mandi-53 mm of rain. Meanwhile, heavy rains led to a flood-like situation in Parvati Valley area in Mandi. The National Highway 3 that connects Chandigarh to Manali is blocked following a landslide near Mandi town and Pathankot- Mandi national highway near Shahpur. The operations of clear the roads are currently underway. Similarly, the Sangla-Karcham road is also blocked due to landslides at Ruturang in Kinnaur district, other roads that have been closed due to landslides are in the Kangra district Nagni-Gharana, Purba-Naura, Dheera-Kahanfat, Naura-Kayarwan, Thural-Bhatti, Darohgarh-Jamulla road, Shaman-Thural road, Duhak-Garthoon road, Gawal Till Stadium road and Thural-Challah. Metrological department warns about Heavy to very heavy rainfall at few places in the state today and tomaarrow , and Heavy rainfall at isolated places till 17 th of this month barring 15 th August.
