“Sufi Corner” depicts the rich heritage of Malerkotla through pictures

During the ongoing four-day Sufi festival in the princely city of Malerkotla, where various presentations related to Sufi faith and music are being given, a photo exhibition organized by renowned photographer Ravindra Ravi portrays the rich heritage of Malerkotla.  

“Sufi Corner” depicts the rich heritage of Malerkotla through pictures

Malerkotla, December 15, 2023: During the ongoing four-day Sufi festival in the princely city of Malerkotla, where various presentations related to Sufi faith and music are being given, a photo exhibition organized by renowned photographer Ravindra Ravi portrays the rich heritage of Malerkotla.  

The throng of young boys and girls at the Sufi corner gives the reassurance that if such events continue, future generations can be easily kept connected with this rich heritage.

In this exhibition, while the pictures of prominent Sufi Saints, Qawwals, and writers are displayed, other pictures show the main works of the people of Malerkotla such as ironware making, jutti making, vegetable production, and army uniform badges, works are shown.

The old historical buildings, seven gates, and other famous sights of the city are seen with great enthusiasm by the people.  Literature related to Sufism in the exhibition is also attracting readers.

Talking about this exhibition, Ravinder Ravi said that photography was his hobby. He finds every bit of nature beautiful, natural scenes, culture, and old buildings, and enjoys capturing everything with his camera. These pictures of Malerkotla were taken in 2018.  Ravi thanked the district administration of Malerkotla and Deputy Commissioner Dr. Pallavi, who allowed him to exhibit here.

About this exhibition, student Salma said that it was a very good initiative by the administration to set up "Sufi Corner".  An exhibition organized in collaboration with Punjab Urdu Akademi Malerkotla is providing an opportunity to learn about Sufism. People welcomed the Punjab Government's step to hold this event in Malerkotla.
