Ludhiana, July 16, 2018: Under the Mission Tandrust Punjab started by the state government, various camps are being organised for the students of various schools and Aanganwari Centres of Ludhiana district to make them aware about the benefits of yoga as well as making it a part of their lives. For this purpose, block-level teams under the supervision of Ayurvedic Medical Officers are training the students.
While providing information, District Immunisation Officer Dr Jasbir Singh informed that the state health department is committed for making Mission Tandrust Punjab successful. He said that the health department is carrying out regular checks at food stalls and restaurants, besides this, they are also training the students of different schools and Aanganwari Centres about yoga.
Dr Jasbir Singh said that two teams each have been formed for each block and each team is led by an Ayurvedic Medical Officer, who have themselves taken a six-day long special training about yoga. He said that till date, more than 225 such camps have been organised in different parts of the district.
He further said that by doing yoga, students can get mental peace as well as can stay fit. He said that the students are also taught the best way of washing hands during these camps, because main reason of several diseases is not cleaning hands properly. He said that if children wash their hands properly, then the number of diseases in children can come down considerably.
Dr Jasbir Singh said that the attendance of students in these camps was comparatively less as there were holidays in schools. But now that the schools have opened, such camps would be organised on large scale. During these camps, the students were also educated about diseases such as diarrhoea, uses of albendazole pills and about diseases caused due to change in weather. He was also accompanied by Dr Arundeep Kaur and others.
