Students’ Designs Steal the Show at CGC University’s ‘Meraki-2026’ Fashion Show
Creativity at its peak as students showcased vibrant designs on the ramp
Mohali, April 21, 2026: The annual fashion show Meraki-2026, showcasing the creativity and talent of final-year students from the Fashion Designing Department of CGC University, Mohali, concluded with great enthusiasm and grandeur. On this occasion, the university campus transformed into a stunning platform where fashion was presented not merely as attire, but as an expression of identity, culture, and innovation.
Renowned Punjabi actress Simi Chahal graced the event as the Chief Guest. Other distinguished guests included Niket Dhillon, Nitish Raizada, Sukhanchal Kaur, Bhawna Y.R., Sahil, Arsh Hundal, Vishal Singh Deot, and Gaurav Sharma. The jury panel comprised Ravi, Puneet Bhatia, Preeti Pathania, and Mukul Arora, who evaluated the students’ designs based on creativity and presentation.
During Meraki-2026, students presented collections based on diverse themes such as Parvaaz, Naqsh-e-Shyam, Divinity and Darkness, Neel Rangrez, Denim Alchemy, and The Royals Fit inspired by the royal attire of Himachal Pradesh, which remained major attractions. Students not only designed outfits but also demonstrated excellence in styling, choreography, and ramp presentation. A key highlight of the event was that it was entirely organized by students, showcasing professionalism in every aspect—from backstage management to model coordination.
At the conclusion, awards were distributed across various categories to recognize the hard work and creativity of students. In the Best Designer Category, the first prize was awarded to Jyoti, Poonam Kumari, Sumanpreet Kaur, and Tanu Rani for “Rajwada – Ek Parampara Story.” The second prize went to Mansi for the “Ethnara” collection, while the third prize was won by Ajay, Mohammad Saqib, and Manoj for “Sustainable Chic: Denim Edition.”
For Best Innovative Design, Sanjana and Tania were honored for “Neel Dhara.” In the Best Collection Category, Mohit Sharma, Lakshmi Singh, and Priya Sharma won the title for “Naqsh-e-Shyam.” The Miss and Mr. Meraki 2026 contest was highly exciting, where Divya Rani was crowned Miss Meraki 2026 and Nitin Verma as Mr. Meraki 2026. In the Best Walk Category, Marlin (female) and Vikrant (male) won for their outstanding ramp walk performances.
The show played a significant role in boosting the confidence of emerging designers and preparing them for the fashion industry. CGC University once again set a new benchmark in artistic excellence.
