Dharamshala, February 16, 2024: This year, with the Lok Sabha elections slated to take place before May, an additional responsibility falls on the shoulders of government school teachers I Himachal Pradesh. Beyond their teaching duties, these educators are tasked with evaluating answer sheets to ensure timely declaration of results for students undertaking board examinations. In anticipation of the potential overlap between election duties and academic responsibilities, the Himachal Pradesh School Education Board has proactively taken measures to prevent any disruptions to the announcement of the Class 10 and 12 examination results.

Dr. Major Vishal Sharma, Board Secretary, emphasized the Board's commitment to ensuring that the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections do not impede the academic process. To this end, the Board plans to expand the number of evaluation centers for the March 2023-24 academic session's examinations. "Last year, we had 42 centers designated for evaluation. This year, we're adding 9 more to that number," he noted, highlighting the initiative to facilitate a quicker declaration of board results ahead of the teachers' election duties.
In a move to expedite the evaluation process, the Himachal Pradesh School Education Board aims to announce the annual examination results for Classes 10 and 12 ahead of schedule. This decision underscores the Board's dedication to minimizing the impact of election-related duties on academic outcomes. Efforts to increase the number of evaluation centers underscore this commitment.
Additionally, Dr. Sharma shared details about the schedule and logistics of the upcoming board examinations. "The annual exams for Classes 10, 12, and SOS (State Open School) are set to commence on March 1 and will extend throughout the month," he explained. To accommodate the exams, 2,258 centers have been established, including 240 in private schools and 2,018 in government schools. Specifically, for the SOS examinations, 213 centers are allocated, with 147 in government schools and 66 in private schools. Registration numbers indicate that approximately 95,000 students for Class 10 and about 80,000 for Class 12 have been registered with the Board for this academic year.
