Storm Busters beat Green Burners by 8 wickets to Lift YI Norwood Cricketpanthi Cup 2015

Ludhiana, December 21, 2015: Strom Busters beat Green Buirners by 8 wickets to lift the first ever Young Indians (Yi) Norwood Cricketpanthi trophy. The Cricketpanthi has been an initiative of Yi Ludhiana Chapter’s Sport-A- thorn vertical jointly headed by Mr Karan Chowdhary & Mr Dewakar Jain.

The Yi Norwood Cricketpanti match was played at PAU, Ludhiana Cricket Stadium between two Yi members teams -Storm Busters and Green Burners. Mr Puneet Singhania was the Captain of Storm Busters team and Mr Amit Bhalla captained Green Burners. Strom Busters won the toss and put Green Burners to bat first and posted 203 runs in 30 overs (2 innings per side of 15 overs each). Strom Busters then easily chased the total with 8 wickets in hand and 6 overs spare.  Mr Rubal Arora was adjudged the Players of the Match for his all-round performance. The winning trophy was handed over to the wining team by Mr Vivek Verma, Managing Director, Norwood Green Resorts,  also the sponsors for Yi Cricketpanthi 2015 match.

Sharing his views Yi Ludhiana Chairman, Mr Amit Juneja, who was also a member of Strom Busters playing elevens, said that, “We all really appreciate the efforts made by Karan & Dewakar for taking forward this initiative and for putting up such a great show. All the members from both the team thoroughly enjoyed the game.  Such activities help in developing a member to member bonding and strengthen  the Chapter. The kind of response we have received both from the players and their family members who specially  joined  to cheer us duing the match, Yi Ludhiana will surely work out to make  Cricketpanthi an annual event for Yi Ludhiana.   For next year’s Yi Cricketpanthi will involve more teams and will make 2nd edition of Yi Cricketpanthi a big sports tournament. Yi chapters from various other cities across India are already organizing similar sports tournament.
