Ludhiana: Upkar Singh Ahuja, President and Pankaj Sharma General Secretary, Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU) Ludhiana in a joint statement mentioned that CICU wrote a letter to Chief Minister of Punjab to immediately stop free trains carrying migrant labour to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Labour are only travelling for the free tickets. CICU affiliated 33 associations also of the same view.
On other side industry required labour now, as it started production. Availability of Labour is decreasing day by day. Labour after getting ration and cash payment from the industry and leaving for home.
Moreover, it is unnecessary burden on state government at the time, when state is passing through financial crunch.
Those who want to go to their hometown must pay ticket and travel. Almost 50% labour left the city. Also requested to start trains from labour home towns with immediately effect.
