Stop dumping of cow dung in 'Buddha Dariya'; take strict action against violators - MP Sant Seechewal
Conducting a review meeting in context to reducing pollution in 'Buddha Dariya' at sewer treatment plant (STP) Jamalpur on Monday, Rajya Sabha MP Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal directed the officials to stop dumping of cow dung in the Dariya and strict stern action against the violators.

Ludhiana, October 13, 2025: Conducting a review meeting in context to reducing pollution in 'Buddha Dariya' at sewer treatment plant (STP) Jamalpur on Monday, Rajya Sabha MP Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal directed the officials to stop dumping of cow dung in the Dariya and strict stern action against the violators.
Stating that their aim is to clean 'Buddha Dariya' uptill village Walipur, MP Seechewal said that the work would be completed in phases. Earlier he had also directed the officials to impose environment compensation (EC), if necessary, on violators to stop dumping of cow dung.
Similar directions were also issued against dumping of untreated industrial waste in the Buddha Dariya. The officials were directed to keep a check and take strict action against the violators.
MC Additional Commissioner Paramdeep Singh, Additional Chief Administrator (ACA) GLADA Ojasvi Alankar, DSP Kulwant Singh, SE Ekjot Singh among other officials of PPCB, Punjab Water Supply And Sewerage Board, MC etc were present in the meeting.
MP Seechewal stated that dumping of cow dung is not only polluting 'Buddha Dariya', but it is also affecting the working of effluent treatment plants (ETP) and sewer treatment plants (STP). He also directed the officials to expedite the work of setting up biogas plants.
MP Seechewal said that the state government led by Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Bhagwant Singh Mann is committed to make 'Rangla Punjab'. They appealed to the residents to join hands with the government and administration, so that combined efforts can be made for saving the environment for the coming generations.
MP Seechewal stated that they are not against any sector/industry, but no one can be allowed to dump waste in the 'Buddha Dariya'.
Later, MP Seechewal, MC Additional Commissioner Paramdeep Singh among others also planted saplings alongside Buddha Dariya on Tajpur road.
