Start new International Airport at Halwara with immediate effect: Ar Sanjay Goel

Ludhiana, December 21, 2025: Ludhiana Smart City Ltd. Technical Expert Ar Sanjay Goel has written to Civil Aviation Minister urging him to start new International Airport at Halwara with immediate effect.
In his communication, Ar Goel wrote: “This is to request you to kindly start operating new International Airport at Halwara, Ludhiana, Punjab immediately as lakhs of people not only from Ludhiana but from neighbouring districts too are eagerly waiting since many years for regular flights from Ludhiana to few other leading cities of India and abroad.
It will reduce a lot of rush at Delhi Airport as it takes a lot of time, energy and money to take flights from Delhi which is 300 -450 kms away from majority cities of Punjab.
Ludhiana known as Manchester of India and financial capital of Punjab cannot be more livable in the absence of an Airport. Ludhiana which was shortlisted in first phase of upcoming smart cities in 2016 by Modi Govt can't be a smart city in the absence of an Airport.
Ludhiana International Airport is ready since many months and delay in starting regular operations from here is not known whereas public and buisness are suffering a lot.”
Concluding his communication, Ar Goel hoped that Airport Authority of India (AAI) will start operating new International Airport at Halwara, Ludhiana immediately.
It may be mentioned here that Ar Goel is also former Director of Ludhiana Smart City Ltd and former Chairman of Indian Institute of Architects Punjab Chapter.
