St Stephen’s founder-director Harold Carver to be cremated on Tuesday
The St Stephen’s Schools community will bid a final farewell to its founder-director, Harold Carver, on Tuesday, with his funeral and cremation scheduled to take place in Chandigarh following tributes at the school’s campuses in Sector 45-B and Togan.

Chandigarh, September 13, 2026: The St Stephen’s Schools community will bid a final farewell to its founder-director, Harold Carver, on Tuesday, with his funeral and cremation scheduled to take place in Chandigarh following tributes at the school’s campuses in Sector 45-B and Togan.
Carver, who founded and led St Stephen’s Schools, is being remembered by students, teachers, alumni, parents and members of the wider school community as a visionary educationist and institution-builder who devoted his life to education, discipline, character-building and the overall development of young people.
The final journey will begin on Tuesday, while people will be allowed to pay their last respects at the Sector 45-B Auditorium of St Stephen’s School on Monday from 9am to 11am. His mortal remains will then be taken to the Togan Auditorium at St Stephen’s School, Togan, New Chandigarh, where last respects can be paid from 12 noon to 1pm.
A Funeral Mass will be held at the Church of Our Lady of Miracles, Togan, at 1.30pm. The cremation is scheduled for 4pm at the LPG Crematorium in Sector 25, Chandigarh.
Carver was regarded as the guiding force behind St Stephen’s Schools and played a key role in shaping the institution over the years. Members of the school community recall him not merely as an administrator but as a mentor who believed that education should go beyond academic achievement.
His emphasis on discipline, compassion, confidence and character-building became an integral part of the institution’s educational philosophy. Generations of students and teachers have been shaped by the legacy he created.
The St Stephen’s Schools family has expressed deep sorrow over his death, saying his contributions would continue to be reflected in the institution and in the lives of the students and educators he influenced.
