Mumbai (Anil Bedag): In a rapidly evolving world, a significant step has been taken to bridge the gap between academia and industry. SRM Institute of Science and Technology has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding with Ather Energy, marking a new chapter in technology-driven education. This collaboration goes beyond a conventional partnership, presenting a forward-looking model that integrates real-world industry exposure into academic learning.
At the heart of this initiative is the launch of the ‘Ather Forge’ Technology Centre on campus. Designed as an innovation hub, it will enable students to move beyond theoretical knowledge and engage directly with real-world challenges in electric mobility. The center aims to cultivate hands-on skills, innovation, and problem-solving capabilities among students.
One of the most impactful aspects of this collaboration is the provision of long-term internships ranging from six months to one year. This will allow students to gain deep industry experience while still pursuing their degrees, giving them a strong competitive edge and clearer career direction.
Speaking on the occasion, Ather Energy’s Talent Acquisition Head, Arif Ahmed Sharif, emphasized the company’s roots in a campus ecosystem and its commitment to nurturing young talent. Meanwhile, SRM’s Registrar, Dr. S. Ponnusamy, highlighted that the partnership will significantly boost electric vehicle research infrastructure and open new avenues in sustainable transportation. Overall, ‘Ather Forge’ is not just a center—it is a dynamic platform where education, innovation, and industry converge to shape the future of India’s electric mobility landscape.
