Ludhiana, April 27, 2014: In an effort to promote voting awareness and encourage the citizens of Ludhiana to vote on April 30 - the polling day, SPS Apollo Hospitals in collaboration with the Ludhiana Academy of Pediatrics organised a walkathon at Sarabha Nagar. Over 100 doctors took part in this walk. The doctors were also joined by the associates of the hospital. All participants of the walk also signed a pledge at the end of the walk.

According to Dr. Vikas Bansal, Senior Consultant, Department of Pediatrics, SPS Apollo Hospitals, Ludhiana, “this initiative was taken to promote a robust turnout in Ludhiana for polling on April 30th. As responsible citizens it is essential that we vote for India”. Every single vote counts and the value of this single vote can be multiplied by getting others in your circle of influence to join you in casting votes. Each of the enthusiastic participant signed a pledge with this very thought.

“We believe that it is important for all our employees to cast their votes and we support this in every way. We have sent out an internal communication to all our associates on the importance of casting one’s vote” said, Chandneet Bindra, Head of HR, SPS Apollo Hospitals, Ludhiana. The hospital has also printed banners and standees asking associates and people coming to the hospital to exercise their voting rights. Furthermore in all our meetings we are also encouraging colleagues to cast their votes, added Bindra.

Speaking on the occasion Dr. Rakesh Gupta, President Ludhiana Academy of pediatrics said, voting is our right and we must come out in the large numbers to vote on April 30 as every vote counts. We must vote for India and for Ludhiana.

According to Sukhvinder Singh, Head of Marketing, SPS Apollo Hospitals, Ludhiana, “the hospital has put in place special offers on its preventive health check packages. Furthermore we have also spread awareness thorough various hoardings across the city encouraging people to come out and vote”.
