Spreading Smiles On and Off Screen: Sony SAB Celebrates World Laughter Day

Known for its light-hearted and family-friendly programming, Sony SAB has long been a source of comfort and cheer for audiences across India. From slice-of-life stories to shows with endless laughter, the actors behind the channel’s popular shows reflect on what it means to bring laughter into the homes and hearts of their audiences on the occasion of World Laughter Day celebrated on 4th May.

Krishna Bharadwaj, who portrays the titular role in Tenali Rama said, “Tenali Rama, the character I essay has always been about wit along with light-hearted moments — a reminder that intellect and humour go hand in hand. It’s amazing how a well-timed line or a clever scene can make someone’s day. Humour has that rare power to connect across ages and I am thrilled that I am part of a show that not only entertains but also gives the viewer their daily dose of fun.”

Wagle Ki Duniya actor Pariva Pranati elaborated, “Our show reflects the joys and struggles of everyday life; the humour comes from how relatable it is. Viewers often tell me they see themselves in our characters — and that our light-hearted take on daily chaos helps them laugh through their own.”

Actor Karuna Pandey of Pushpa Impossible said, “Pushpa’s spirit is unbreakable — and so is her sense of humour. Her journey proves that you don’t have to be perfect to smile, and you don’t need ideal circumstances to spread joy. It’s a privilege to play a character who finds laughter even in the tough spots.”

Last but not the least, Actor Aarav Choudhary of Veer Hanuman said, “Veer Hanuman is a mythological show that is rooted in strength, goodness, and hope — qualities that uplift people. When children come up to me calling me ‘Kesari’ with a smile, that’s when I realise the emotional power of the characters we portray. Laughter may not always be loud — sometimes it’s quiet reassurance.”

This World Laughter Day, the channel honours the power of a good laugh and also continues to champion stories that uplift and connect, celebrating characters who bring warmth, humour, and hope to everyday life.
